Tuesday Night Prayer

Tuesday Night Prayer

Christ as a light,

illumine and guide us.

Christ as a shield,

overshadow and cover us.

Christ be under us. Christ be over us.

Christ be beside us, left and on right.

Christ be before us.

Christ be behind us.

Christ be within us.

Christ, as a light,

illumine and guide us.

(SIlence)

Christ is coming among us.

Give glory

Christ has come down from heaven.

Give glory

Christ is on the earth.

Give glory

Christ gives light to the world.

Give glory

Christ is with us always

Give glory

PSALM 136.1-9; 23-26

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good

for his mercy endures for ever.

Give thanks to the God of gods,

for his mercy endures for ever.

Give thanks to the Lord of lords,

for his mercy endures for ever.

Who only does great wonders

for his mercy endures for ever.

Who by his wisdom made the heavens

for his mercy endures for ever.

Who spread out the earth upon the waters,

for his mercy endures for ever.

Who created great lights,

for his mercy endures for ever.

The sun to rule the day,

for his mercy endures for ever.

The moon and stars to govern the night

for his mercy endures for ever.

Who remembered us in our low estate,

for his mercy endures for ever.

And delivered us from our enemies,

for his mercy endures for ever.

Who gives food to all creatures,

for his mercy endures for ever.

Give thanks to the God of heaven

for his mercy endures for ever.

1 John 4:13-15 (NRSVA)

By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Saviour of the world. God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God.

NUNC DIMITTIS

My own eyes have seen your salvation.

Lord now let your servant go in peace:

your word has been fulfilled.

My own eyes have seen the salvation:

which you have prepared in the sight of every people

a light to reveal you to the nations:

and the glory of your people Israel.

Lord have mercy,

Lord have mercy,

Christ have mercy,

Christ have mercy

Lord have mercy

Lord have mercy.

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours

now and for ever.

Amen.

In the power of the presence

Lord, may we abide.

In the love of the Lord.

Lord, may we abide.

IN the strength of the Saviour

Lord, may we abide.

In the compassion of Christ

Lord, may we abide.

In the joy of Jesus

Lord, may we abide.

In the dwelling of our God

Lord, may we abide.

That we may dwell in him and he in us

Lord, may we abide.

Almighty God, who by the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ, dispelled the darkness of the world and gave light to all peoples, protect us as the darkness descends, and keep us ever in your light, and continue to enlighten our lives by your great glory.  Through Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end.  Amen.

The glory of the Lord shine upon you, and scatter the darkness from before your path, that you may ever walk in his light.
